things that kang kang is thankful for in 2009

2009 is going to pass by in like 4 hours’ time..

kang kang is going to watch 3d avatar with rav4 the chemist later – hope there are still tickets available.

kang kang tried booking last night but the eng wah website claims it’s getting so much traffic that the ENets payment gateway can’t cope!

sianz.

ok lah, last adventure for 2009, i guess.

2009 has been a ballin’ year.

kang kang is thankful for many many things.

1. passing all his exams and getting through fyp unscathed.

once again, i want to say what i always think to myself at the end of the last paper for the semester in nus..

“free at last.. free at last.. god almighty I’M FREE AT LAST!!

and this time, i’m really, really free!!

but shite, kang kang misses school now.

kang kang doesn’t miss exams, but he sure misses school

2. having the balls to REALLY not get a job.

people are still skeptical about kang kang’s decision.

he has had a pretty decent engineering job opportunity – REALLY decent, given his grades. (hint: connections, connections..)

oh well.

kang kang sux in many ways.. but thinks that one of his strongest points is that he’s damn sure about what he wants.

so amitabha!

3. having had 3 favorite gadgets in this world: the sony ericsson w810i, blackberry bold, and the iphone. now, i’ve owned them all.

if you’re a girl or hate technology, like rav4, you will never understand how i feel.

4. my ah sio

i will be forever grateful to my lao peh.

with or without ah sio, of course!

5. rav4

this car ain’t got wheels.

instead, she bakes cakes.

she is so stupid sometimes, and scolding her is so much fun.

but still, kang kang is even stupider sometimes, so we have two stupid people scolding each other stupid things over stupid reasons.

jokes aside, stupid fools who start their own businesses eat grass half their lives.

so having someone supportive of their grass-eating antics..

is a really, really wonderful  thing indeed.

2010 will be a challenging year.

a defining year.

whatever happens to kang kang for the rest of my life pretty much depends on how 2010 turns out.

happy new year everyone.

hope everyone has a happy, prosperous, and epic 2010.

huat ah!

ex-bosses

life takes weird turns at times.

while i was still a puny ‘a’ level graduate working part-time as a car-washer, i had 2 bosses.

D: my supervisor
Y: the big boss

with the advent of technologies like the internet, i’ve actually managed to locate their profiles to have a peek at their lives after all these years.

i had to strain the brain abit to remember the old times though.

==

D treated me pretty well. lets me go off early if i want to, does the more difficult work himself instead of forcing me to learn.

when i last left, he promised that he will hire me to wash cars for him when he sets up his own company.

ah, an entrepreneur-minded man.

i was touched.

==

Y was a slave-master.

he’s never been menacingly mean but he speaks like an a**hole and seems to like to flaunt to me that he is a graduate of nus. omg, (so big deal, right?)

my last impression is that i had to go all the way to the main branch (far far away from the workplace) to bug him to give me my final paycheck.

he was actually adamant about giving it to me “some other day” but being a persistent and desperate puny car-washer, i was more adamant than he was and took a bus all the way down for my moolah.

when i reached there, he was like uber busy and had no time for non-essential nonsense like paychecks, so he ordered me to over-work for me one last time.

at the end of the exhausting day, i finally left the workplace at like 6+ (i think work was supposed to end at 5) paycheck in hand, proud that i managed to prise my symbol of victory off the hands of the slave-master.

he did thank me when i left, and reminded me warmly to remember to send my car to him for grooming in future.

it’s probably been 5 years since then.

==

looked up information about D: there seems to be someone fitting his description posting free ads on the internet advertising his services via broken english.

not a good sign..

Y is a tad bit low-profile given his business-y character but i’ve still managed to find out abit about him.

the business is still going on, but i saw a few negative testimonials for his services, several directly accusing him, the boss as a nasty person who doesn’t honor his promises.

==

i have an urge to re-connect with my old friends but 1) they wouldn’t remember me 2) i wouldn’t know what to talk to them about.

us lucky bunch

me is free thinker, so the parts about god’s healing touch etc kind of puzzles me.

anyway, these are powerful statistics which i personally know are mainly true, which just pisses me off to no end when i hear people complaining non-stop about the government.

  • If you woke up this morning with more health than illness
You are more blessed than the million who won’t survive this week.
  • If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, the pangs of starvation,
You are ahead of 20 million people around the world.
  • If you attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death
You are more blessed than almost three billion people in the world.
  • If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep
You are richer than 75% of this world’s peoples.
  • If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change on a dish some place,
You are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy.
  • If you parents are still married and alive
You are very rare… especially in the United States.
  • If you hold your head up with a smile on your face and are truly thankful,
You are blessed because the majority can but most do not.
  • If you can hold someone’s hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder
You are blessed because you can offer God’s healing touch.
  • If you can read this message you are more blessed than over two billion
in the world that cannot read anything at all.
  • You are so blessed in so many ways you may never even know…
May God continue to bless you now, forever and always.

car wash car wash

if you pump your petrol at SPC i highly recommend u go for the $3 car wash at least once in your lifetime.

2 reasons:

1) they wash with soap and super high-powered water hose so your car gets really clean.

2) very shiok, you get to sit inside the car when they shoot water onto your car.

the chemist thinks it’s more fun than a ride in an amusement park, and costs only $3!

rav4

rav4 has now officially been renamed as per typical “naming conventions” on lorlilorsor.com.

from now on, rav4’s new nickname is the chemist.

anyhoo, the chemist has decided not to be a chemist.

she did try applying for a few conventional jobs, but they seem to be anal about what your cap score is.

it is infuriating.

the chemist is like 0.01 or something away from second upper.

that has affected her employability alot.

but humor me if you will.

wtf is the difference between a second upper and a second lower, if the difference is like 0.01??

really.

it’s one thing to discriminate against an engineer like me with a ****ed-up cap of like two point something.

it is a completely different thing to judge a chemist’s ability based on a stupid 0.01 speck of a cap score.

and i repeat the question..

wtf is the difference between a second upper and a second lower, if the difference is like 0.01??

i simply do not understand.

but it might be a blessing in disguise.

the chemist has decided to help her father out with his business.

way to go!

sure, tongues will wag and people will say “honors degree go sell furniture”?!

yeah, to heck with them, it’s our lives.
