After Action Review.

With the passing of the last exam of my second semester in NUS, my first year as a university student has finally ended.

THREE frickin months’ of break, omg!

Anyway, ’tis time to look back on what I’ve done this semester and how I think I’ve fared. Basically, I have worked harder for this sem than last sem. However, I know that my results are not going to improve much.

Therefore, with a heavy, heart, I have decided.

NEXT SEM JUST SLACK LAH!

The thing about the way I studied this sem is, I really did put quite some time(significantly more than last sem) into TRYING to study. Meaning, I’ve played MUCH less and spent quite alot of time in the library even some time before exams. And I actually didn’tmiss a single lecture!

Alas, all that was for naught.

Most of the time I spent in the library was used to slack anyway.

So next sem I will pon lectures and don’t spend so much time being unproductive liao lah.

HOWEVER.

1) Will do all my tutorials on time!
2) Will form a study group!
3) Will make sure I’m keeping up with the lectures even if I don’t attend them!

Since I’m not gonna do well anyway, might as well play and don’t do well, rather than don’t play and don’t do well, right?

Vote for Worker’s Party! Not?

Went to watch the opposition’s rally at Ubi with dad just now.

It is very sad to see how the general Singapore population reacts to rallies like this.

Do they even know what is it that they are so fervently supporting? And the possible consequences?

Some issues that were raised during their speeches, and especially the reponses that they triggered, were extremely worrying, and in my humble opinion, reflects the ignorance of the general population and their short-sightedness.
===
Mr Ng Eng Meng mentioned that there were some suggestions he had made to the PAP regarding some policies which were rejected some ten years ago. Now, PAP is starting to carry out those same policies.

From this, he concludes that what PAP has done, he has already thought of long ago. This is met with a huge response from the crowd and people were applausing like mad and chanting “Worker’s Party! Worker’s Party!”

But has anyone in the audience considered that the decision might indeed have been unpractical ten years ago, but because situations have changed, it is favourable now?
===
Okay I know I myself have been guilty of calling the progress package a “bribe”, but that was meant as a half-joke and I didn’t expect the opposition to make such a big hoo ha over it. So it ends up that government don’t give money they complain, give money they also complain..

They call it a very blatant call for citizens to vote for PAP. However, do they realize that if PAP wants to avoid this accusation, all they have to do is bring the distribution of the progress packages to a much earlier date?

Say what? Maybe they thought of it only as the elections drew near? C’mon lah, PAP is made up of POLITICIANS and even if little me is able to think up of this change, don’t tell me they can’t?
===
They bash PAP because the price of living has increased more and more. And they blame PAP for people losing their jobs and that “general managers of companies have become taxi-drivers.”

And I got so very disgusted when the audience actually started clapping again and shouting “YES! YES!”

How about, for a change, realize that the price of living is increased because the standard of living has increased? GMs turn into taxi-drivers because of the economy, and PAP has no real influence over that. And how MANY GMs really turn into taxi drivers?? How could they bring up EXCEPTIONS to debate an issue, instead of the norm? Blame PAP for this, blame PAP for that.. I think it’s high time they start realizing that your future lies in your own goddamn hands and to quit whining.

Nobody owes them a living. Not PAP, and not WP too, even if they come into power.
===
I found it really funny that they criticize the fact that MPs are very well-paid and with the
TAX-PAYERS’ money at that, and WP works for the common folk for NO MONEY at all. They also seem to imply that the rising costs of living results in surplus that flows into the pockets of these MPs.

Look at it this way… An MP is a highly educated individual who would definitely be able to command a high income if he sets up his own company or decides to take up a high position in a commercial company. If you don’t pay them well, why in the world would these people choose to become an MP?

Furthermore.. The WP also neglects the fact that… They didn’t CHOOSE not to get any money for their efforts.. They have no fuckin’ choice! Well if they do become the ruling party AND refuse to claim any wages, that’s a different story. But I don’t think so.
===
I highly suspect the general population supports the opposition only because they want change.. But are they willing to embrace that change, whether good or bad?

I’m no PAP hardcore supporter, but there is no denying the fact that they have done a good job thus far.

And we do pay our dues, which are much higher than the average Singaporean, and we are taxed the frickin maximum amount in taxes every year.

But if that’s what it takes to maintain a competitive edge for Singapore, do we complain?

The Land of Many Many Beautiful Flowers.

The perks of studying at Central Library..

Are your eyes tired from stupid equations and laws invented by crazy people you’re not even sure are dead or alive? Exhausted from trying to memorize all the fuzzy logic that’s SUPPOSED to make sense?

Just look up!

Lo and behold.. Your eyes with be delightedly soothed by the wondrous landscape.

Say what? Don’t have?

Don’t fret. Just turn your head. SURE got one. Don’t ask me why, I also dunno why like that.

How could there be such disparity in the quality of scenery in two places merely a few hundred metres apart?

If Arts is a garden, Engin is a desert.

If Arts is a dream, Engin is a nightmare.

If Arts is Heaven, Engin is like Hell.

If Arts is like coffee, Engin is like piss.

P.S. I’m talking about the general situation, and exceptions do occur.

P.P.S. The above is actually just to pacify my female engin friends.

It’s a Small World.

Was at blinkymummy’s blog when she mentioned this “boy” who made some mention of her in his blog. So she gave a link.

So I followed the link.

Was browsing through this “boy”s blog when my eyes suddenly caught sight of the word “CAC”.

Eh? Nan dao shi OUR CAC? Nan dao shi our senior?? So qiao?

So I clicked the post and saw a pic there. Nabeh, it’s not only OUR CAC, it’s also OUR batch lor.

And in the pic he was holding the hands of a girl I thought was pretty chio during the camp.

离乡背井.

Was at perk point trying desperately to study when there suddenly came this PRC who started talking very loudly on her mobile.

I was abit peeved initially as expectly, her conversation was distracting me alot.

Faraday’s law states that… 四婶你还好吗? Change in magnetic flux occurs…爷爷怎么样了? Lenz’s law means… 我也不想这样啊…The direction of the potential difference will be in such a way…. 我都已经三十三岁了… Wtf…? *Weird noises coming from the lady*

And I looked up just in time to catch her breaking down in tears.

Nabeh I think the whole place everyone kena stunned lah.

I shamelessly went on to eavesdrop on the entire conversation(not like I had much of a choice anyway) and it turns out that her parents and in-laws actually wanted her to stay in China to be a good wife and stuff like that, but she has her dreams and aspirations and wanted to come to NUS study so that she could get a better job and provide her family with a better living…

Whoa, imagine having that kind of burden on your back, man. I mean, it’s really like crossing-the-river-and-sinking-the-boat kinda thing. Being a student at some foreign place at the not-very-young age of thirty three must be a very very scary experience..

And if she doesn’t get super grades and ultimately a good job, how the fug is she going to face her family back home?

It’s no wonder that compared to foreigners, locals generally do worse in school. They specialise at spoiling the markets and landing poor blokes like me on the wrong side of the bell curve, but if they don’t do that, they’re doomed!

On the other hand, I just any how any how study (eh, I DO try to study hard at times) and I know I’m going to get at least a decent job.

Now, I’m not trying to be a spoilt brat here; my point is that, we native Singaporeans are really much better off compared to our China counterparts.

Sometimes I think they really damn ke lian.

Cruelty.

There’s this series of pics featuring this fuckin bitch torturing this poor little kitten, going so far as to force her stiletto down the little innocent’s throat.

I first heard it from bm who learnt about it from Alvin who saw the pics while blog-hopping.

I thought that the pics were morbid enough.

Until I saw the VIDEO today.

I think her behaviour is most aptly summed up the in following acronym.

KNNBCCB.

I mean, something has gotta be very, very, very wrong with a human being for her to be able to do this to a fellow earthling. How can ANYONE have such an evil heart?

And mind you, this isn’t some evil scheming mad scientist or a blood-seeking terrorist. She’s just a normal person walking amongst our midst!

And speaking of terrorists, I think even Osama would take off his turban and bow in defeat.

It ain’t often I get so freaked out. But as I saw the creature putting its stiletto into the kitten’s mouth, I uncontrollably muttered one “fuck” and turned off the video. The kitten was mewing so pathetically.

And no, I’m not gonna post the link to the video. The creature’s wish is to gain publicity, and publicity I shall not give it. Anyway, I think u guys also not interested lah, it’s really, really, fuckin gross.

And the best thing is, this creature even has sequels featuring other little animals like bunnies and what-not.

This kind of incident really makes me want to take a step back, have a better look at this world and think…

Wtf?

A day of Slacking.

Exams coming, still sleep so much?!

Man, I need someone to induce some stress in me. How come I’m always so bo chup about my studies?

I always get damn pissed off when I see people mugging real hard. Why can’t they slack around abit more, so that the bell curve would be more to my advantage?

I was even trying to hatch this evil plan to poison the water supply of PGP; poison all the scholars so that the bell curve would be of a much nicer shape!

But after weighing the pros and cons, I decided it just wasn’t worth it.

Mr IBM

Papa was telling me about his conversation with a friend of his. Let’s call him Uncle IBM.

He’s a very successful person ah, owns a 4 mil bungalow at Bukit Timah and owns a few cars including a Porsche 911, which he paid for with CASH. Add that to the fact that he’s only 40 plus years old~

Anyway, the main lead of this entry is not him, but his damn cool son, who’s like Primary 2 this year.

Uncle IBM actually split the cost of a BMW and a Ahmad with his neighbour to ferry their kids to and from school.

And one day this kick-ass kid confronted Uncle IBM and asked “Why other kids can take school bus I cannot?? Why I have to go to school in this kind of car?? 我要坐校车!!!”

And so the Ahmad lost his job and the BMW is left there to rot.
===

And then Mr IBM asked papa about his kids. Whether he bought a car for us.

And papa explained to him his rationale; about how we should learn to take things one step at a time and how we should not obtain such luxury items so easily; we should learn to work for it.

And apparently, his logic made alot of sense to Mr IBM and he said he will remember his words.

I think that re-affirmed papa’s beliefs. On one hand, that must have made papa feel veyr proud.

On the other, I think that completely wipes out my hope that he would buy me a car any time soon :(

Tomorrow programming practical exams.

Just remembered the legend about the bloke who lost his marbles in the middle of the P.E. and just flung all his stuff off the table and screamed “CHEE BYE LAH!!!”

Must chill, man.
